All Day

Come learn how to make a kaleidoscope quilt that is fun and easy. In class you will learn how to cut your fabric in layers to create this design. A demonstration on graphing your quilt will be included so you can make your blocks unique. A small trunk show with a variety of different kaleidoscope quilts will also be included. Class members will get a design kit so they can practice designing.

Skill Level: All

Pattern: $8.00

Supply List:

Rotary cutter (with a very sharp blade), cutting mat (17” x 23” at least), 24” acrylic ruler.

60 degree triangular ruler. A regular acrylic ruler can be used if it has a 60 degree line on it, but a triangular ruler is well worth the investment because it is much easier to use.

Flat-head flower pins (very important).

A pressing ham can be useful but is not necessary.

If you have the Magic Stack & Whack book, bring this too.

Fabric Requirements:

Fabric with at least 6 repeats of the pattern counting down from the selvage edge. I find that colorful fabrics with good contrast, big repeats and big prints (about the size of the palm of your hand) are the best. Even “ugly” fabrics can turn out nicely, but she suggests using fabrics you love, with colors that are pleasing to you.
