This quilt was requested by several of my students from last year. It is foundation paper piecing, a technique I love to teach as you know. I’ve used a modern large scale fabric to give it a more contemporary look but the use of traditional colors and construction would be lovely as well.

Supply List:

Star alone is 18’ x 18’ and borders can be what ever you want)

1x6 c-thru ruler (W-10) which I will supply for $1.50 if you don’t have one.

Fabric Requirments:

1 yard light for background (not necessarily white or tan or any color often thought of as light in quilting)

1/3 yd dark or medium for the  points (if you want to make the points contrast)

1 yd medium or dark fabric for the large central part of the star OR 1-1/2 yd of large print for both points and star body. I used a bold, bright, kind of wild print from Kaffe Fassett for the quilt shown in the brochure.

If you choose to make contrasting points and they are the medium fabric be sure there is enough contrast with the background. Either dark points and medium star or medium points and dark star unless you use a single fabric for both as I did.
