Rotary cutting and speed piecing techniques combine to make this stunning “Storm at Sea” quilt an easy one to put together. Collect coordinating prints, or gather old denims and Dockers©; sort them into varying shades of lights and darks, and get cutting! Elements of design and quick tricks for success will also be explored in class.

Blocks 1 Layer Cake

Trail and Border 2 1/2 yards

Iron-on Interfacing 3 yards

Binding 1/2 yard

Back 4 yards

Batting 67” x 76”

Cutting Instructions:

Strips are cut selvage to selvage

1. Trail and Border

Cut 7 - 6 1/2” strips. Cut into segments: 40 - 6 1/2”.

Cut 8 - 5” strips. Cut 2 strips into segments: 4 - 9 1/2”, 4 - 5”.

Set aside 6 strips for border.

Make template of circle.

Mark 40 circles on smooth side of iron-on

interfacing, leaving at least 1/2” between circles.

Rough cut circles, leaving at least 1/4” around marked lines.
