Half Day

This quilt can be made from a honey bun, hence the name. However, I cut my own 1-1/2” strips and love it much better done scrappy. Appliquéd borders make this a to-die-for little quilt. The appliqué is vines and leaves and surprising little hexagon flowers using English paper piecing.

Fabric Requirements and Cutting Instructions:

This quilt was originally made with a honey bun which is a roll of forty-four 1-1/2” wide strips cut from fabric of one line and you may wish to use a pre-cut honey bun. I had a lot of pieces of Robyn Pandolph’s first lines of fabric in soft pastel prints and decided to cut my own 1-1/2” strips, cut across the width of the fabric. This you may choose to do also, even cutting strips that make a scrappy quilt.. You will need 37 strips of your colored or print fabric (could be the honey bun) and 2-1/2 yds of a background fabric which does not have to be white or cream. I used Kona Snow for mine. For the appliqué I used scraps of fabric from the body of the quilt. You will need 1/2 yard of a green for vines and leaves. This can be supplied after the body of the quilt is made.
