40. Marsha Chappell – Byzantine Star 66” x 78” lyncreates@yahoo.com 435-836-2614 All Day |
This old, beloved and much requested star pattern is unique and easy to assemble while it truly makes a statement! Using the technique provided by one of my favorite “toys”, the Tri-Rec Ruler, you can always be assured the points will be sharp and accurate. It’s one of those quilts that your friends will think you’ve “slaved” over for days while you can chuckle to yourself thinking how east it was. Think of the TV ad of the Rice Krispie Treats!!! Skill Level: All Pattern Fee: $5 BSK |
41. Saundra Cindrich – Feathered Star paprpcr@yahoo.com All Day |
This quilt was requested by several of my students from last year. It is foundation paper piecing, a technique I love to teach as you know. I’ve used a modern large scale fabric to give it a more contemporary look but the use of traditional colors and construction would be lovely as well. Skill Level: All Vellem Fee: $4 BSK |
42. Pam Kay – Rib Basket 619-464-2009 PamKay@FiberArtist.com All Day |
Try your hand at a new weaving form! The rib basket is suitable for beginners and the experienced alike! Ribs give the basket shape, and weaving is continuous. It's called an egg basket, a melon basket, buttocks basket, or just plain rib basket. I like a primitive look, so I've used milk paint and some distressing techniques on these baskets, but they are very beautiful when finished with a traditional weavers stain. The shape can be varied simply by changing the size and position of the ribs. You will learn to make a gods' eye to insert the ribs into. The only tools you'll need are something to cut with, a measuring tape and a pencil. Bring along basket weaving packing tools if you have them, but they are not essential for this project. And guess what else? No rim to lash on! Kit: $15 (includes all materials) |
43. Jody Ray – Bow Tuck Tote Bag jodyray001@msn.com |
Use your favorite fabrics to create this useful 11” x 10” x 5” tote bag in the style of Vera Bradley. With interior, divided pockets and a button closure, you’ll love carrying it around. And once you’ve learned the tricks, you’ll want to make many more for yourself and your friends. Skill Level: Experienced beginners and up Pattern Fee: $9.65 BSK |
44. Sandy Varley – Stained Glass Window Large Lap Quilt or Throw sandyvarley@comcast.net All Day |
This stunning is rotary cut and strip pieced in panels of French Braid, and is much, much easier than it looks. Guaranteed to elicit oohs, aahs, and envious looks from your quilter and non-quilter friends. They’ll never know how easy it was to make—you’re not going to tell them, right? Skill Level: Confident beginner and up Pattern fee: None BSK Special equipment: Book “French Braid Quilts” by Jane Hardy Miller is REQUIRED. |
45. Micky Vogel – My Blue Heaven micquilt@yahoo.com Supply List ![]() Click on picture to enlarge |
This is an easy quilt to make and is a great quilt for practicing your accuracy skills. I teach you some easy methods for making your blocks more accurate for a perfect finish to your quilt. You get to choose your favorite color scheme and have some fun. And better yet you can get into that stash and put it to good use. This quilt uses 3 color values. They can be from one color family (yours doesn't have to be blue like mine) or a scrappy look works beautifully in this quilt, just so you maintain the 3 values. So pick a light, a medium and a dark fabric and come have some fun. Skill level: All Pattern Fee: $3 BSK |

51. Janey Argyle – Pumping up 9 Patch Pizzazz jbargyle@aol.com Half Day
|
Do you have focus fabric scraps from a BQ that are lovingly stashed away? Or a gorgeous big floral yardage that was too small an amount to really do anything with, but it followed you home? Let me show you what I have done with the leftovers from my leftovers (yep, it’s the third quilt!). Learn how to balance, brighten and illuminate with scraps from your stash. Create a work of art that can control the viewer’s eye as well as tickle your own fancy as you make it. When Grandma used the chicken feed sacks to make her quilts she used to say, nothing should be wasted-they even used the oink from the pig. Well, that is what we do with this quilt. Skill Level: Advanced beginner with an interest in design and composition BSK |
